I have just got into this musical called Jekyll and Hyde with a guy called
Robert Cu- I forget the ending of his name, playing the lead roles of Edward
Hyde and Jekyll of course ;) I have ordered the Original Broadway Cast but does
anyone think the concept cast with Anthony Warlow is better? I am thinking
about getting that one too - what do you think guys?

In my oppinion the best one, from the international recordings, is the Vienna
Cast staring an incredible Thomas Borchert as Jekyll/Hyde. (Even better than
Anthony Warlow)

But then it's the german translation of the concept recording with Anthony
Warlow, which is by far one of my favourite Jekyll and Hyde recordings.

I have heard loads of great things about The Anthony Warlow Concept Cast, so I
think ill probably get that one too - the Original Broadway Cast is already on
the way to me :D I quite like Robert Cuccioli's Hyde - very scary :D How do the
make Hyde look different from Jekyll as they are both the same actor - is a
mask put on or what? Many thanks for your replies.

Yes, THAT David Hasselhoff. His performance is hilarious - just for all
of the wrong reasons. His "rendition" of the hair duet* is particularly
special.

There are people who - how can I say this nicely? - enjoy it a lot more
than I do. Based on the DVD, I find it hysterically funny - just not for
any of the reasons (it's not just the material - the staging is
sometimes *extremely* silly).

* a duet between Jekyll and Hyde - I forget the name of the song - in
which the actor alternates between the two by flicking his hair back and
forth.

That is pretty silly. Wouldnt the audience loose focus of who which character
was meant to be singing unless the actor turned the voice a lot differently. I
would have done something different like cringe or hunch my back as if Hyde was
controlling me while he was singing. The song is called Confrontation near the
end of the show and I expect it is funny no matter how you do it !!!!! LOL

When it was on Broadway, I asked a friend if there were any laughs in the show.
A sly smile broke out on his face as he said "Not any they intended."
And, as I said, the DVD is capable of reducing me to near-helplessness
with laughter. Particularly that section and the "Murder! Murder!"
number.

There doesn't seem to be anything *quite* as bad on Broadway right now
(I'll be in New York next week and I'm trying to figure out what I'd
like to see).

I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It's

I didn't see the b-way version, but I did see the non-equity version that
toured about 1 or 2 years ago. I took my mom and we both enjoyed it. The
music is fabulous and the cast we saw was really amazing. The staging was
really interesting and the guy who was Jekyll/Hyde did such a fantastic job,
especially in the number where he was playing both parts. This musical seems
to get a bad rap, but I've seen shows that are much, much worse.

I think the recording with Robert Cuccioli is wonderful, but I absolutely love
Anthony Warlow's voice and really enjoy the recording with him also. Either
one, I don't think you can go wrong.

If you were thinking of it, don't even bother with the VHS or DVD with David
Hasselhoff. In my opinion, his singing voice and acting are just horrid.
