"Luck Be A Lady" from /Guys and Dolls/ is an example of great poetry
set to music:

LUCK BE A LADY
Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser

They call you lady luck
But there is room for doubt
At times you have a very unlady like way of running out
You're on this date with me
The pickings have been lush
And yet before this evening is over you might give me the brush
You might forget your manners
You might refuse to stay
And so the best that I can do is pray

I played Sky in a college production. I don't recall much, but
knowing me I probably played sky Hi. I usually was. I just got lucky
with the critics. LOL.

Wow, that's a choice role, watching Brando swagger through it on a DVD
I grabbed for a dollar at the used Book House yesterday.

No it isn't. And it shouldn't be; neither the style of "Guys and Dolls"
nor the character of Sky Masterson could bear the weight of any sort of
great poetry there.

"You can, if you wish, class all science-fiction together; but it is
about as perceptive as classing the works of Ballantyne, Conrad and W.
W. Jacobs together as the 'sea-story' and then criticizing _that_."
