Steve, "sh*t" as in slang for "a lot," or sh*t as in "pure dreck?" eh
Hopefully the latter, because not one remake has ever done the
original justice. Remakes have become ad nauseum within the last
decade. Hollywood is running out of ideas, so they churn out
horrendous remakes. See "The Karate Kid" & "Footloose" for starters.
Both were guilty pleasures at best the first-time around. And anyone
who champions Depp as a superb actor is typically a tween, teen or
chick! eheh I have yet to see one performance that is deserving of any
accolades. Half of his career has been hidden behind makeup and
grunts. He has the personality of a sloth. Pacino is a great actor.
Sweet Hoffman is a great actor. Brando was a great actor. Olivier was
a great actor. Depp is not even close to the forementioned. -D, NYC
"Sons of a peddler in upstate New York, Sam, Lee & Jacob Shubert built
their own theatre row from one end of Broadway to the other. They
filled their stages with over five hundred plays and helped advance
the careers of Al Jolson, Eddie Cantor, and Fanny Brice" - THE JEWISH
BOOK OF LISTS BY JOEL SAMBERG.."There are now only four theatres
actually situated on Broadway: The Marquis (46th), The Palace (47th),
The Winter Garden (50th) and The Broadway (53rd)." - LITTLE BIG BOOK
OF NEW YORK.."Broadway is the longest city street in the world. It
stretches 150 miles from Bowling Green to Albany." -IBID.."Broadway
theatres were among the first to wow crowds by using electric bulbs on
signs - the bright lights earned the Broadway stretch between 42nd &
53rd streets the nickname "The Great White Way." -IBID.."Longacre
Square was renamed Times Square when the New York Times Building was
erected in 1904." - IBID.."The Booth Theatre was nicknamed after one
of America's greatest 19th century classical actors, Edwin Booth
(brother of Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth)." - IBID.."Mae West's
1926 play Sex, about a Montreal prostitute, ran for a year before the
city charged the company with lewdness and the corrupting of youth.
She spent 10 days in jail." - IBID.."New York City theatres became
desegregated in 1912." - IBID.."The original production of The Wizard
of Oz was the premier performance at the Majestic Theatre on January
21, 1903." - IBID.."Economically, the 1927-28 season is the most
successful in the history of New York City theatre: 264 shows opened
in 76 Broadway theatres." - IBID.."Before the advent of air
conditioning, most theatres closed down during the summer." -
IBID.."The longest running show in Broadway history was Cats. It
opened at the Winter Garden Theatre in 1982, and didn't close until
2000." - IBID
